I own/operate a small home based recording studio in my basement and have done so for about 14 years now. I've also been fortunate enough to have judged for the Canadian Juno Awards on 4 occasions.
I use Pro Tools LE, which is a 32 track digital recording format. I mostly work with artists and bands who don't have much or any recording experience. So if you fall in to that category, by all means, send me an email and let's talk.
Advice is free.

We're putting the final edits on the movie "Wait" and I should be finished my part this week.
Stephanie Dunn came in just before Christmas and did a couple of songs. We had fun and she did a great job with her vocals. Here's what she had to say, and I didn't even have to pay her.
"Doin Time Recording Studio was the first studio I contacted when I had an interest in recording some songs. Steve responded promptly and answered all of my questions fully. On our first session, I felt comfortable to voice my wants and needs, and Steve met every one of them without question. He was extremely professional, honest and very helpful. I came out of each session feeling ecstatic and relieved that I knew my recordings were going to turn out exactly the way I wanted them. I would recommend Doin Time Recording Studio to all. Whether your dream is to lay down some demo's or record a simple Christmas album as a gift for a loved one, this is definitely the studio that will meet all your needs."January 31 there will be Supernova at the Park Theatre. This feature goes across Canada and showcases local bands. Check out www.supernova.com and see some of the bands that will play there. I'm going to be there to check out the local talent and maybe drum up business.

I should be done the musical score for "Wait" today. Holly and Dion will come by later to hear the results. I think they'll like it.
My album's looking better. Thanks to Tania and Paul for their work. I'm still writing lyrics for a couple of the songs, but all is well.

Just a quick update: I'm about 3/4 done my 2nd album. I want to be finished before Christmas and then do the mastering shortly after.
Also, I'm just finishing up writing/recording music for a short, independent film called "Wait". I'm hoping Dion and Holly will put up an ad soon and I'll put the link up here. So stay tuned.
Just a guy who's been a musician most of his life and got in to recording for fun.
That's my Bat/Pepsi guitar I built in the late '80's. People thought it was a toy, but it's got an original Bill Lawrence L500 pick up in the bridge...it kicked ass.
I have a few very simple rules to follow;
1.NO DRUGS, alcohol or egos allowed. Remember, you're not a rock star in someone's basement.
2.MONEY owed gets paid in CASH at the end of each session. Unfortunately, I was a nice guy and got taken advantage of.
3.FUN. We're here for the purpose of recording with a side order of fun. You'll be working hard, but fair.
